Kennesaw State University has partnered with technology firm Witfoo to make their leading Witfoo Precinct information security operations platform available to students in the cybersecurity program at no cost. In addition to providing access to their platform, Witfoo will also develop curriculum and training materials for students.
“We have worked with many software vendors in the past only to be disappointed with continuity and renewal issues,” said Herb Mattord, professor of cybersecurity in the Michael J. Coles College of Business. “The WitFoo team and their Education Initiative is durable and flexible and aligns with the approaches to cybersecurity education taken by Kennesaw State. The software, data, and training WitFoo has delivered provides our students with a realistic exposure to SIEM, SOAR, and Incident Response platforms. The faculty and students at KSU have been extremely satisfied with the Education Initiative WitFoo has developed.”
Thanks to the partnership, KSU students enrolled in the programs offered at the University’s Institute for Cybersecurity Workforce Development develop skills and expertise that are typically reserved for on the job training, giving students a leg up on others entering the workforce and competing for cybersecurity positions.
“The experience our students gain with the WitFoo platform layered upon the theoretical foundation of the program's curriculum is invaluable as they begin their careers in cybersecurity,” Mattord said.
“The faculty and students at KSU have been great to work with,” said Tim Bradford, CEO and co-founder of WitFoo. “Their commitment to education is inspiring and we’re excited to have a local university involved in our mission to advance the craft of cybersecurity. We’re thrilled to have KSU enrolled in our Education Initiative. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to education, coordination, and collaboration efforts across the craft of cybersecurity.”
The WitFoo Education Initiative exist to enable the maturity of cybersecurity operations. To assist in this effort, WitFoo contributes tools, curriculum, and data to enable educators, students, and practitioners in adding sustainable knowledge and skills to the craft.
