Dr. Nathan Nabb brings a wealth of experience in music education and performance
Prof. Valerie B. Morris, interim dean of the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University, has named Dr. Nathan Nabb director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music, effective July 1. His appointment comes at an exciting time, following a successful performance season that included the GRAMMY Award-winning group Imani Winds.
Nabb brings with him a wealth of experience in music education and performance. He most recently served as the Director of the School of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University. He previously taught at Stephen F. Austin State University, Chongqing Normal University, the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Morehead State University, and the University of Illinois. He has given clinics in prestigious programs in North America, Europe, and Asia. A globally recognized saxophonist, Nabb has distinguished himself as a soloist and clinician at prestigious events and venues worldwide. He has performed at the World Saxophone Congress, North American Saxophone Alliance, Navy Band Saxophone Symposium, as well as prominent schools of music and saxophone studios throughout the United States, France, Taiwan, Japan, Spain, Greece, Norway, Canada and China.
“I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Nabb to the Bailey School of Music,” said Interim Dean Morris. “His expertise and passion for music will be invaluable in advancing our commitment to student success and excellence.”
Nabb maintains an active and multifaceted concert schedule with performances in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings, including numerous international engagements at music festivals and conservatories throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. As an orchestral musician, Nathan regularly performs with the St. Louis Symphony, Houston Symphony, and Atlanta Symphony. He has also performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, New World Symphony, IRIS Chamber Orchestra, and more. Orchestral performance highlights include concerto performances with St. Louis and Houston Symphonies, as well as multiple European tours featuring concerts at the BBC Proms, Berlin Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie, Salle Pleyel, Vienna Konzerthaus, Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone (Academy of St. Cecilia), and many more.
“I am honored to join the Bailey School of Music. The opportunity to contribute to such a vibrant and esteemed music community is incredibly exciting,” said Nabb. “I look forward to collaborating with the talented students, faculty, and staff to further elevate the Bailey School of Music’s commitment to artistic and scholarly excellence.”
